Donna Rosenbloom
In 1988, at the age of 20, I picked up my first historical romance novel to read. I will never forget it. It was FOREVER GOLD by Catherine Hart. Well, that was it. I was hooked. I have been reading historical romance novels ever since.
In 1989, I even got a part time job at Waldenbooks, just to be near all those wonderful romance novels. It was then, when I worked at the bookstore, that I realized I wanted to write one. At the time, I was working two jobs and averaging 60 hours a week, so I didn't have much time for anything. But I always had time for reading. So I just kept on reading.
In the early 90s, I read an article in the newspaper about a local school teacher who had just written and published her first historical romance novel. Her name was Christine Dorsey. I immediately realized that this dream of mine was definitely within my reach. I mean, if she could do it, so could I. But again, I was still single and working 60 hours a week. Besides, how could I write about “Prince Charming” and “Happily Ever After” when I didn't even have it myself? So I just kept on reading.
In 1996, at the age of 28, I finally met Steve Rosenbloom, who is definitely “Prince Charming”. We were married in 1997 and my “Happily Ever After” began. But so did children - two boys - 19 months apart! Being a stay home mother to two boys took up more time than I expected. Talk about busy! I didn't even have time for reading! And I had always made time for reading. But with these two wild boys, reading was impossible.
In 2005, my youngest began Kindergarten full time. Hooray! Yippee! Finally, time for me! Time for Donna! And time to write!
I joined Virginia Romance Writers and Romance Writers of America in November 2005. I began writing one month later.
And I'm still writing and loving every minute of it!
